Featuring Dr. Rachel Brem and the Brem Foundation
This is the fourth webinar in a series entitled “A Healthier You in 2022” offered by the Gender Fairness Committee, Supreme Court, New York County, Civil Branch. In this session, we welcome Dr. Rachel Brem and the Brem Foundation. Dr. Brem has served as the Brem Foundation’s Chief Medical Officer and inspiration since its inception in 2006. As the Director of the Breast Imaging and Intervention Center and the Program Leader for Breast Cancer at the George Washington Cancer Center, Dr. Brem works every day to prevent breast cancer from taking more lives. She is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and the Society of Breast Imaging. Dr. Brem is the recipient of countless awards and honors including Castle Connolly Best Doctors and was ranked as one of the top cancer doctors in the United States by Newsweek Magazine in 2015. In addition, Dr. Brem has been instrumental in developing new technologies for earlier breast cancer detection including taking two new breast imaging technologies through the FDA which are now widely used clinically. She has published over 140 peer reviewed manuscripts and has lectured both nationally and internationally.
The Brem Foundation utilizes a combination of education, access programs and advocacy to help women advocate for their own health. The Brem Foundation has implemented innovative initiatives and programs including its Washington D.C. and Baltimore based program “Wheels for Women” which incorporates a partnership with Lyft to coordinate the country’s first and only free transportation program dedicated to breast cancer screening and diagnostics. The Brem Foundation continues to identify and help patients so that care is accessible to those in need.
